The Truth About Gun Free Zones

I'd like to see how he can sell that one with a straight face. The nation has gone from an all may-issue carry permit system to a large majority of states either being shall-issue of Constitutional carry. This has resulted in a corresponding large increase in the number of permit holders.
Then you throw in the individual states reducing the number of areas being legally considered gun-free zones. An example of that is the so-called Georgia "guns everywhere" law which is actually a lot like it is in Minnesota.
I'm sort of surprised that you bring this up Mike. We had discussed this before when you were discounting the claim that people target gun free zones because of their status. Well, if you cant claim that they attract crime, how exactly can you claim that they drive violent crime rates down?
Lets go over it one more time. More people carrying in public. Fewer places where its illegal to carry, in other words fewer gun-free zones. And as Mr. Follman put it, "dramatically lower gun death/violent crime rates than America as a whole."

I don't think that's the point. Not that they "drive violent crime rates down," but simply that the NRA and you gun nuts are wrong about the traditional claims regarding gun free zones. Guys like TS and Kurt will argue anything till the cows come home, comes to mind the insistence that Holmes selected that theater for it's gun free status. That's the argument the NRA and people like Glenn Beck pushed for years but I think it kinda fizzled out.
