Indiana 5-Year-old Dead - Charges?

8 comments:

  1. "All of the occupants of the residence were taken in to the Police Operation Center for questioning as all deaths are treated as homicides by the Fort Wayne Police Department until proven otherwise.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office."

That's what Mikeb loves to see--guilty until proven innocent.

    2. Doing this isn't likely anything unusual of necessarily considered an arrest. Something like going down to make a witness statement.

    3. Kurt knew that, ss. He just wanted to take a swipe at me, as usual, a dishonest one.

Going to have to disappoint you yet again, Mikeb, in your quest for your first example of "dishonesty" on my part. What I did do was embarrassing enough.

When I saw " . . . as all deaths are treated as homicides by the Fort Wayne Police Department until proven otherwise," I read "homicides" as "murders," and treating all deaths as murders until proven otherwise would indeed be monstrous. But \what was actually said was "homicides." That word, of course, covers everything from legitimate self-defense, to tragic but innocent accidents, to gross negligence, all the way up to first degree murder.

I can't think of any way for a shooting death not to be either a homicide or a suicide, so it was indeed foolish of me to criticize the department for treating this as a homicide. A foolish, but honest, mistake.

And I still maintain that Mikeb is a big fan of presuming guilt pending proof of innocence.

    5. You're still lying, Kurt. Your original mistake was not about homicides vs. murders, it was about "taking people in for questioning" being the same as "guilty." ss pointed out your mistake, but in typical defensive mode, you refused to acknowledge it and wrote a non-sequitur screed in response.

I haven't started "lying," Mikeb, and you are absolutely and utterly wrong, but that is of course very familiar territory for you.

Your original mistake was not about homicides vs. murders, it was about "taking people in for questioning" being the same as "guilty."

What offended me was the "all deaths are treated as homicides by the Fort Wayne Police Department until proven otherwise" part, but my objection was without merit.
