Chicken Shit and Gun fun -- because you can't make this stuff up

A story about chickens, some chicken shit, a dumb cluck, and some just plain scary dumb shit.

EVERY story like this is an un-opposable argument for stricter gun control.

There is no way this man should EVER have been able to buy an AK-47.

But then, he also shouldn't have been able to make an explosive device either.

Heck, someone like this probably shouldn't own a dog or chickens either...

I don't care however if he has the pot -- the one thing so far, for which he has been arrested.

I-79 BACK OPEN: Chickens and ammo to blame for shutdown
Just before 4 a.m., Seth Grim was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer with Pennsylvania plates and rolled it over on Interstate 79 near Amma, West Virginia. A dog tried to jump out of the window, which might have helped cause the wreck. Unfortunately, the dog later died and Grim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to his upper torso.

Here's where the story gets wacky. In the back of his explorer were 35 to 40 chickens along with an AK-47 and a large amount of ammunition. Also in the back of his vehicle was a device that police were extremely concerned about. The "improvised explosives" prompted a higher level of response.

The West Virginia State Police Bomb Squad out of Williamson was sent to the scene and removed the device.

Initially, all of the chickens were reported to have made it out alive. Our reporter, who was on site during the shutdown of the interstate, tells us that some of the chickens died.

I-79 is now back open.

Seth Grim is being charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Officers saw a quart jar of what they believed to be marijuana in the front seat. He's being held in the South Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.

  1. "When emergency crews arrived, in addition to the chickens they found the rifle and ammo, the marijuana and suspicious devices that led them to call the state police bomb squad. The devices turned out to be altered fireworks, sheriff's deputies told NBC station WSAZ of Huntington."

And as you can see by the lack of charges, it also isn't an AK-47, but rather an entirely legal semi automatic only version. And if this had happened in say Colorado or Washington state, much less.

    1. Once again, you focus on the wrong details.

This is not a person who should have ANY kind of guns.

Oh, I get what your wishes are. But then he didn't really make any explosive devices, they were merely modified fireworks, which don't appear to be illegal since there are no charges.
Also, vehicle loading skills notwithstanding, he wasn't a prohibited person and in possession of a legal firearm. But then, fortunately, in this country, you get your rights without having to pass a test, and cant have them taken away without due process.
Ironically, the law you claim to not care about will possibly result in him losing the rights that you want to restrict.

      There's the problem right there.

    5. Of course Mike, you don't believe in freedom for anyone except for the socialist elites. But that means socialists freedom to control their subjects.

Without natural born rights that are enumerated in the Bill of Rights, enumerated so that the government can't take them without reason or cause, you cannot have freedom.

Mike, with your last statement right there, you have shown the world that you are a full fledged socialist and likely the reason you live in Italy because you can't stand tell thought of a free society.

    6. We're talking about gun rights, not all rights or rights in general. But you knew that and just pretended not to, being the lying twisting gun rights fanatic that you are.

I believe in the freedom for people to own and use guns if they are qualified to do so safely. And I believe that about half the present lawful gun owners do not fall into that category. That's the problem.

    7. It's quite a stretch for you to say you believe in the freedom of the people you deem as qualified to own guns. You don't believe in the freedom of people to own the magazine that came with the gun, or the freedom to have whatever grip they want on it, or the freedom to cross invisible borders with it, or the freedom to own guns if your wife stabs you, or the freedom to use guns to defend your home if a belligerent drunk is breaking in, or someone is bashing your head into the concrete, and on and on...

    8. Gun rights, as you like to call them, are a part of ALL rights recognized and protected in the Bill of Rights for ALL people for all time. Unless an INDIVIDUAL decides to remove his rights due to his own criminal action. That individuals action does not have any bearing on anyone else's rights.

But you want it to. Because you are a socialist. A liberal.

    9. As I said, I believe in the freedom of people to own guns who qualify to do so. And yes, there are certain guns and certain accessories that should be unavailable to civilians. None of this is new. I don't know why you guys act like it is.

    10. I know it's not new. You don't believe in the freedom of qualified people to own gun. You believe in heavy restriction, penalties, burdens, and costs for half the people, and full disarmament for the other half. There's no freedom in your plan.

  2. There are no qualifications to exercise a right protected by the Bill of Rights. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you have to take a test to enjoy your freedoms. The restrictions that are in place now are a result of the slow chipping away of socialists. This is being recognized now by the majority of the people who are now pushing back to regain what has been lost for the past 70 some odd years.

    1. The current wave of voting restrictions and poll taxes are Republican laws.

    2. Ok, so let's do away with those restrictions on both those rights.

    3. It's only one side pushing those restrictions.
