Kentucky Concealed Carry Permit Holder Shoots Himself in the Leg - It Was the Gun's Fault

A man left Fazoli's in an ambulance Sunday after suffering a gunshot wound.

He set his pistol on the toilet paper dispenser while using the restroom and it slipped off and shot him in the leg, said Elizabethtown Police Sgt. David Neary.

Evidence such as bullet trajectory supported the man's description of events, Neary said.

The man did have a concealed carry permit, police said.

The GUN slipped off and the GUN shot him in the leg. Unbelievable!

What's even more unbelievable is that a guy like this will continue to carry his gun everywhere he goes. In places like Kentucky, all they do in response to something like this is tell people to be more careful in the future.

  1. Well, as has been said before, the person involved supplied his own punishment. After all, are there many places that punishes someone who drops a gun by shooting them in the leg?
I imagine he'll be more careful in the future.

    1. Oh well, Mikeb. The law is the law, as your side likes to remind us.

    2. A couple of more dropped gun incidents. Obviously today's guns go off easily when dropped. I agree with Mike, punishment not good enough.

    3. The type of gun isn't specified, but it is rare for a modern gun to go off when dropped.

    4. Greg, you keep saying that, and it make me wonder. With the frequent reports in the news about guns discharging when dropped, and assuming that many times it happens and the idiot gun dropper is alone so it doesn't get reported, there must be an unbelievable lot of guns being dropped if you're right. Surely a dropped gun that does not fire would hardly ever make the news. This means, if you're right, that you gun owners are even more bumbling than I thought, and that's saying something because I had a pretty low opinion of you to begin with.

    5. Or the person could have made a grab for the gun and set it off. Or the news reports could be so sloppy that we can't tell. But guesses always mean more to you than facts.

    6. SS told me a dropped gun going off is rare, yet, just on this blog alone we have had multiple stories in just a few days. I don't believe people who say dropped guns do not go off.

    7. The news report seems clear. Are you saying the reporter is lying? How many unsubstantiated guesses are you going to make, to try and prove this incident never happened?

    8. Actually Anon, I think I said there have been many improvements in firearm design. I never said it was rare. And when a dropped firearm does go off for whatever reason, its quite serious because of the potential for harm.
Many cities have ordinances regarding discharging a firearm. The ordinances typically have exemptions for self defense.

    9. Greg, whether a dropped gun discharges when it hits the floor or when the clumsy gun owner tries to grab it on the way down, it's still a dropped gun. The more I read these reports and apply your observations to them, the more I realize you guys are dropping guns all over the place. You're a menace.

    10. Mikeb, you've never learned to apply my observations or methods to any set of facts. It's called logic. Study the subject.

    11. Facts get in the way of your dishonest stance, so punishment for simply dropping a gun is necessary since just dropping a gun can make it go off and kill people.

    12. This is what you wrote:
" Most if not all revolvers and pistols now have a firing pin block designed to prevent it from discharging when dropped."
I read that to mean, it was rare. After multiple reports of guns going off by simply dropping them and your now backtracking your statement, I find these statements about guns not going off while simply being dropped, bullshit.

So exactly which punishment do you think is worse anon, getting charged with discharge of a weapon which results in paying a fine and possibly some probation?
Gunshot wound to leg, possibly breaking it. ambulance ride, hospital visit, possible surgery, time lost at work (de facto house arrest), the fines get renamed medical bills.
Which one do you think he would remember best?

    14. Modern gun designs to not go off unless they have some kind of mechanical defect. But some people carry older designs, and some people claim that the gun went off when in fact they made a grab for it. There are rare cases in which a dropped modern gun does go off--again, through mechanical defect.

    15. This what the other gun loon just wrote:
"The type of gun isn't specified, but it is rare for a modern gun to go off when dropped."
      RARE!

    16. Why do you guys keep dropping your guns? You're supposed to be responsible and careful, right?

    17. Mikeb, no person is perfect. But the handful of news reports that you post don't equate to "you guys" all dropping guns. As always, you offer a vague assertion without evidence, and soon, you'll complain that "you guys" didn't mean everyone or even many of us.

    18. "Handful?"
Where are your facts to back up that statement. Multiple reports in just a few day means more than a handful. Yes, I understand why you won't reply with facts, you are the site liar.
