I have a lot of respect for Bill Moyers, but here, he's following the leftist line. Moms Demand Gun Bans is a bullying organization seeking to violate our rights. But the "thou shalt not kill" text requires a bit of understanding, since the verb, kill, actually refers to unlawful killing--in other words, murder. War and self-defense aren't included, and neither is revenge killing, so long as the person being killed isn't in a city of refuge.
Before the crowd of bold anonymous commenters comes around, my point here is that the Bible is not the basis of American law.
