Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz has made it clear he doesn't want customers bringing guns into his coffee shops. Now a new poll reveals Americans agree with him by a two to one margin.

Quinnipiac University in Connecticut found 66% of registered voters say the Seattle-based coffee chain's no-gun request is a good idea. Twenty-three percent call it a bad idea.

Quinnipiac polls are known for their thoroughness, with results regularly featured in the New York Times.

This one makes me laugh at the gun-rights fanatics who, like children whistling in the dark, keep telling us most people agree with them.

  1. I wonder how many of those 68% feel so strongly that they were boycotting Starbucks and will now start going there.

  2. Does this mean that 66% of those polled believe that making a public statement that has no legal power over those who legally carry firearms is a good thing?

  3. What it clearly means is that Starbucks can request no guns as they are a private company. The public agrees with them because the public in general, does not want openly carried loaded guns in the places where they hang out. The people agree with common sense.

    1. Mine gets carried concealed. And yes, if I ever have occasion to go to Starbucks, it will be with me.

  4. The hillbilly's proven wrong again.
Lets all reread the comments from the hillbilly's on the last 3 Starbucks posts Mike posted.
Now the hillbilly infers if people go to Starbucks, yet, are part of the 68%, they are what? Hypocrites? Liars? Another BS poll? Maybe Starbucks customers are speaking; we don't want guns around when we simply want a cup of coffee. Of course the hillbilly says he will bring his gun anyway. No surprise, he has stated many times he does not follow laws, or rules made by anyone but himself.

  5. Unless Starbucks posts a sign banning firearms then legally people will be allowed to carry their weapons in the store. Has Starbucks posted signs in their stores banning weapons?
