Gunloons Killing Off Next Generation of Gunloons

Read this sobering article from the NY Daily News:

“You don’t need a mass shooting if you want to see kids injured by guns,” said Angela Sauaia, a trauma researcher at the University of Colorado. “A good proportion of these injuries are caused by the children themselves. Injuries caused by firearms are much more likely to be self-inflicted than any other injuries.”Experts on both sides of the gun debate say these deaths are completely avoidable. But statistics show they occur time and time again, with the youth gun death rate staying steady for the past 15 years.

Look, it's not as if gunloons are reproductive dynamos; indeed, the vast majority of gunloons are gunloons because they are socially arrested and have as much chance of gaining a female companion as NRA hero George Zimmerman beating Usain Bolt in a 100m race.  It appears that the few gunloons who accidentally procreate are systemically killing their offspring.

  1. If Travon Martin had run his skittle eating, watermelon-ice-tea drinking thug ass home when he got away the first time, rather than chasing down George Zimmerman knock him assault him and bang his head against the concrete sidewalk, he would be alive today.

    1. If... can be followed by endless possibilities which would leave the unarmed kid still alive today.

What you guys can't stand is a wannabe cop vigilante-minded guy with a gun pursued an unarmed man, instigated a fight with him and when when things went bad for him, he used the gun to kill "the fucking punk."

      That's hard to defend.

  2. I don't what quite to make of the "have as much chance of gaining a female companion as NRA hero" remark. Does that mean my wife would need to go lesbian or something? I mean after all, she now officially owns more guns than I do. None of our kids were ever injured or killed by our guns, neither has our grandkids with our own kids ownership of their guns.

I guess that means my wife, myself and our kids are not "gunloons". Just real people with guns! And there are WAY more of us than "gunloons"!

    1. I think your gun-rights fanaticism qualifies you as a gunloon. I'm glad to hear that no one in your family has suffered as a result.

    2. Gun fanatic? Got any proof to back up that statement?

    3. So... Supporting rights equates to unsafe handling?

    4. I never said that, TS. Most gun owners are safe and responsible. Most gun-rights fanatics are too. But those who are not are too many and we could do something about it.

    5. You just based your label of Texas Colt Carry as a "gunloon" because he is a fan of rights, nothing to do with his handling practices.

    6. Those who are not are too many? The problem is that you have no evidence to say what that number is, exactly. You also have no proposals that would disarm the irresponsible ones without also disarming large numbers of gun owners who aren't a problem.

No, TS, not a fan of rights. I'm a fan of rights. He, and the rest of you commenters are fanatical gun-rights supporters, extremists one and all. Gunloons, in other words.

    8. No Mike, you are certainly not a fan of rights. You are a fan of bans and limitations. Infringements of every kind is what you looking to achieve.

You are loon of despicable measures. But I still find you very pro gun, curiously enough.

    9. What you find curious is that I am a fan of rights, even gun rights for the approximately HALF of you guys who really do qualify.

    10. Name them, those that qualify in your view, name them and tell us why.

  3. In 2010, there were 606 accidental shooting deaths reported in the U.S. Of those, 62 deaths were of children age 14 and younger.

The CDC website shows 88 accidental gun deaths by firearm in 1999, with what they call a crude rate of .15. In 2010, there were 62 accidental gun deaths with a crude rate of .10. That seems to be a 30% decrease over 11 years.
If you want to measure all minor children, in 2010 there were 98 with a crude rate of .13. And in 1999, the same age range of children killed by accidental shootings was 158 with a crude rate of .22. This seems to show a decrease of 38%.
Perhaps you can check my socially arrested math for me.

    1. That's just the tip of the iceberg, as I've explained to Greg several times lately.

    2. Mikeb, you've explained nothing other than your own lack of evidence and logic. I'm still waiting for a definition of gunloon, by the way.

    3. "tip of the iceberg" doesn't refute Ssgmarkcr's point that it is decreasing.

    4. No, but "tip of the iceberg" is important to realize that when you guys quote the number of deaths that doesn't begin to describe the extent of the damage.

      Delete
    5. And the damage has been going down.

    6. Mike,
Jade gold posted the article which used statistics to show how accidental gun deaths aren't improving. I used the same data source to refute the claim and now you say numbers don't really matter.
Why are the numbers important when it supports your side and become unimportant when they don't?

  4. I don't recall seeing a definition for "gunloon" here, but there are more than 100,000,000 gun owners in America. Only 600 Americans die from accidental gunfire in a given year, of which about 200 are children. But we've seen that gun control freaks are abysmal at math.

    1. Keep pretending that's the extent of the damage. Lying to yourself is something you're good at, that and repeating the nonsense to us.

    2. This being an impolite society, you love to toss around words like liar without having to back it up, but as always, I await your evidence.
